Boys In Shorts
Published in Paperback by GLB Publishers (10 March, 2000)
Author: Chris Kent
Average review score:

Another Visit to the Beautiful Country
This is a perfect companion piece to Chris Kent's The Boys of Swithins Hall though it seems more fantastic and fanciful in its depictions of boys responding to the relentless demands of puberty and adolescence. Chris Kent navigates the dangerous waters between pornography and the frankly erotic with deft assurance. You never feel that this is filth for filth's sake, but that filth like beauty is in the eye of the beholder. What also appeals about Kent's work are the quality of the writing and the soundness of the dramatic plotting. It may be that these stories can never be filmed, but they play out wonderfully in the cinema of the mind. A great read that left me, like so many of the boys in the stories, wanting more, more, more.

Care of Persons, Care of Worlds: A Psychosystems Approach to Pastoral Care and Counseling
Published in Paperback by Abingdon Press (September, 1992)
Author: Larry Kent Graham
Average review score:

Intelligent Book, Technical at Times
This is a very intelligently written book on pastoral counselling from a Christian perspective. The theological view the author holds is process theology, which arose out of Alfred North Whitehead's 'process metaphysics'. According to this theology, God is not the omnipotent father-like figure of traditional theology, but rather more like a creative force that subtly influences everything towards the good, but cannot force anything to just do good. God is therefore an intricate part of reality, enmeshed, and suffers along with us.

However, this theological view is combined with recent approaches in counselling psychology to create a really useful book for the pastor, chaplain, or just interested Christian looking to be a better helper to herself or others. The book can be technical at times, but there are also examples that are accessible if you just skip through some of the technical stuff and go back to it later. Recommended!

Cases for Contemporary Strategy Analysis
Published in Paperback by Blackwell Publishers (June, 1996)
Authors: Kent E. Neupert and Joseph Fry
Average review score:

Nice work by Grant and Neupert
I use Cases in Contemporary Strategy Analysis in my Capstone course (final course) for my MBA graduate students. It provides them with excellent insight into corporate decision making and strategic planning processes. The case studies are interesting and rich for discussion. My only criticism is the world of business is so fast paced. I would have like to see an internet site or CD ROM with more current information on the companies. Many of the organizational case studies were dated 1998. A myriad of financial, economic, marketing, and strategic changes occurred since the printing of the text. Overall, I recommend the book for textbook use.

Cemetery Quilt
Published in School & Library Binding by Houghton Mifflin Co (September, 1995)
Authors: Kent Ross, Alice Ross, Rosanne Kaloustian, and Roseanne Kaloustian
Average review score:

Good for teaching about family values and closeness.
I think this book could help any child who has lost a loved one. It shows how the family is knit together, not only those now living, but generations that have gone before. I would suggest it as a book to read aloud to kids if a grandparent or other elderly friend is nearing the end. It might help them to be read the book and get a chance to discuss it with the reader.

Christ Among the Medieval Dominicans: Representations of Christ in the Texts and Images of the Order of Preachers
Published in Paperback by Univ of Notre Dame Pr (February, 1999)
Authors: Kent Emery Jr. and Joseph Wawrykow
Average review score:

an effective reaction
This book is written in reaction to the tendency of neo-scholastic thinkers to neglect the role of the figure of Christ in the thought of Albert the Great, Thomas Aquinas, and other Dominican thinkers. To redress this imbalance, Emery and Wawrykow have done an excellent job of compiling essays to address the long-neglected depictions of Christ in the writings and art of the medieval Dominicans through a multidisciplinary approach.

Complete Illustrated Guide to Yoga
Published in Paperback by Element Books Ltd. (March, 2003)
Author: Howard Kent

Medicine for my Mind and Body
I checked this book out of my local library out of curiosity and because I had been having aches and pains. I felt there must be something more I can do than take aspirin all the time. I started reading this book and doing some of the exercises and immediately began to feel better. I decided to purchase this book from Amazon so I would always have it as a reference. The simplicity and illustrations in the book are well received. I recommend Mr. Kent's book to anyone who wants to get a handle on their health, spirit and mind.

Comprehensive Perinatal & Pediatric Respiratory Care
Published in Paperback by Delmar Learning (14 February, 2001)
Authors: Kent B. Whitaker and Kent, Med, Rrt, Pa-C Whitaker
Average review score:

great
This is thruly a great book on neo/ped respiratory care. It includes superb info on most common cardiopulmonary diseases, mechanical ventilation, oxygen and other resp therapies, monitoring, short review of anatomy and physiology of infant, assessment of infant and child etc. It also contains practice neo/ped respiratory board exam at the end of the book. What dissapoints me about this book is its softcover binding. For such a huge book(814 pgs) it is surprising that publishers would opt for softcover, but at the same time charge ($) as if the book was hardbound. (hardcover does not break down if read alot) Very good book anyway.

Costing Human Resources: The Financial Impact of Behavior in Organizations (Kent Series in Human Resource Management)
Published in Paperback by PWS Publishing Co. (May, 1991)
Author: Wayne F. Cascio
Average review score:

Very Helpful to the HR professional!!
I actually bought this book because I was working on a class project for Labor Relations and needed to read Chapter 7. Once I got the book, though, I realized that I had actually gotten a treasure. This book will help any HR professional who wants to think strategically and find a way to quantify the value of any organization's most valuable commodity-its people. The book is surprisingly easy to read and understand.

It contains very helpful and useful information. I would recommend this book very highly.

A Coyote Columbus Story
Published in Hardcover by Groundwood Books (September, 2002)
Authors: Thomas King and William Kent Monkman
Average review score:

The trickster Coyote at her best...now messing up Columbus!
America is the country that it is just because Coyote wanted to find a good baseball team! Or so says Thomas King in this extremely playful take off on both the legendary trickster Coyote and her crazy encounter with Columbus's "discovery" of America. Thomas King has found a hilarious way to poke fun at just about everything he can, from Columbus's mistake to our preoccupation with vacation vehicles. And the dazzlingly colorful illustrations add to the wild and wacky world of turtles, moose, Native Americans and, of course, Coyote, who's nose falls off everytime she laughs. A quick easy read, King's book deserves a spot near the best of Dr. Seuss.
